Some information in English about my church: EFG Wiedenest

efg wiedenest, English

On our new church homepage you can find some basic information about my church in Wiedenest/Germany.

As the free church Wiedenest, we are a community of people from different generations and nations, who love Jesus, follow him and spread God‘s love by word and deed.
Everybody is welcome. Our vision is to increase God‘s glory by growing on the inside (maturity) and on the outside (increase in church-goers). The church service on Sundays is the main event of our church week. This is where we celebrate God by worshipping him, learning from his word and by receiving Communion.
Our podcast contains the sermons from our weekly church services. Usually there are about 300 people visiting our services on Sundays.
Another aspect of our church are the spirited small groups and home groups during the week. We want to be a church of small groups to have greater fellowship and pray and care for each other.
During the week there are a lot of different events and groups for children and youths in our church building. Aside from the mother-child play group, we offer a weekly café for senior citizens and many other offerings for the people from the area (Oberbergischer Kreis) and the neighbouring Sauerland (North-Rhine-Westphalia).

As a church we belong to the Union of Evangelical Free Churches. In 1921 our church was formed from Christians who worked at Forum Wiedenest e.V.
In this section we introduce ourselves as a Free Church. Also we state our vision and our calling, our history, our leadership and our network.

Special: Das Internet? Gibt es diesen Blödsinn immer noch? (Homer Simpson)…

Article: A social-missionary awakening …

A social-missionary awakening in the non-traditional Brethren Churches in Germany, using the example of two churches from the first decade of the second millennium
by Veit Claesberg, Germany

1. A new desire arises
In the last 5-10 years more and more churches in Germany have the desire to be noticeably relevant as a church for society. At the same time it is observable that the people who are lost, become a bigger priority. The churches want to bring the word of God to the people. To achieve this, they have to satisfy their needs which is why they first proceed to action. This happens without pitting word and deed against each other. This behaviour is based on the greatest command that Christians should love God with all their heart and then love their neighbours as much as they love themselves. The churches want to make a difference in their cities. They want to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5,16)
I do not dare to talk about an overall trend yet, but there are definitely signs for the beginning of a mini-trend.
The following examples refer to non-traditional Brethren Churches in the Association of Evangelical Free Churches in Germany (www.agb-online.de) …
